What to expect

An essential component in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other chronic conditions, is balanced nutrition based on the specific needs of each person.

It can be a little intimidating to talk to a dietitian about your eating and food habits. It is important to find a dietitian who can work with you in a judgement-free way that allows you to feel comfortable. The role of a dietitian is to help you reach your personal food and eating goals- because healthy, regular eating is different for everyone.

Each nutrition session is customized to your personal needs and questions. You can expect to be asked some questions about your habits and concerns regarding food and eating so the dietitian to adapt nutrition recommendations. There is no set agenda by the dietitian and clients have space to share their story and guide the conversation in the direction that they find most useful.

The dietitian works closely with other CHIP team members, such as the kinesiologists, psychologist and doctors to help make the most of your nutrition sessions.

Popular Topics

We have put together some topics that have helped other clients. In our experience, spreading the topics and your questions over a few sessions has worked well. Here are some popular topics clients ask about:

   cholesterol.

• diabetes and nutrition recommendations that help to manage blood sugars

• strategies to improve eating to help clients achieve a healthy relationship with food and natural healthy weight.

• follow up sessions that help you address barriers to changing your habits, help to inspire and keep you motivated
