Sylvie Marchand has been a clinical research coordinator in the Division of Clinical Epidemiology at the Montreal General Hospital since 1994. She holds a DEC in nursing as well as a certificate in health care management. She worked for five years at several Montreal hospitals. Afterwards, her career shifted and she became a nurse manager for the Canadian Red Cross Society where she participated in developing a bone marrow donor registry and a program allowing the drawing of platelets and white cells for the treatment of patients with leukemia. Also during this period she began her research activities. She is currently coordinating projects in cardiovascular disease treatment. Her main area of interest is the prevention of cardiovascular disease and patient support.
